Editorial policy

The rules our systems and editors follow.

Attribution first

Every item on LebNews names its publisher and links to the original. Excerpts are short. We do not reproduce full text, and we remove any item at a publisher's request.

Summaries

  • Written only from the source articles; no outside knowledge is added
  • Every key point cites at least one source article
  • Uncertainty in the sources is preserved; conflicting reports are shown side by side, never silently resolved
  • No fabricated quotes, figures or names; no claim of independent verification
  • Neutral, non-sensational headlines

No political labelling

Compare Coverage shows what each publisher said. We do not assign labels such as 'pro-' or 'anti-' to publishers or articles.

Ranking weights

Trending: 25% recency, 20% number of sources, 20% velocity, 15% significance, 10% engagement, 10% social signals. Importance: publisher count and diversity, velocity, recency, entities, category, source trust and editorial boost. Weights are configurable and any change is noted here.

Breaking

A story becomes a breaking candidate when several independent publishers report it within a short window. Editors decide whether to publish the label unless auto-publish is enabled for very high-confidence cases. Labels expire automatically.

Corrections

Errors in LebNews headlines or summaries are corrected and listed on the corrections page. Errors in a publisher's article are the publisher's to correct; we reflect their updates.
